Gawan Vesey Memorial Bench 1998

A bench was needed on Merryhill, there was nowhere to sit to enjoy the fine views.
Gawan Vesey (1920-1994) was BADFA's vice-chairman as well as many many other things including Bushey's unofficial chief photographer, rarely seen without his camera. So it was fitting that his memorial bench should be beside a footpath with fine views.

The bench was carved by Martin Cook and was provided by BADFA to a special design to allow maintenance. The wood is English oak from a stock bought from British Gates and Timber in Kent. Sadly their stock of well seasoned English oak is now exhausted. Chris Beney, Ian McKay, Norman Hedges, Michael Gibson (from USA) and others put up the bench.
