To get from Bushey to Aldenham Country Park and beyond by means of our public footpaths or bridleways has for many years involved crossing the busy A41 in competition with cars and lorries. Hertsmere Council, with help from the British Horse Society, the Bushey And District Footpaths Association (BADFA), the Ramblers Association and others has got a crossing built that cunningly uses a spare arch of a bridge to get under the A41. We are all working to get a wide and comfortable and well surfaced Greenway from Bushey to the Country Park. We have one bit of Greenway in place (see map just north of Tyler’s Farm). We have another bit between Hilfield Lane and Hog Lane, up near Elstree Aerodrome. Soon it should be possible to cycle from Bushey to the Park without any conflict with motor traffic on main roads.

Do come to the official opening at 3pm on Tuesday. There is no parking so come on foot, cycle, wheelchair or whatever. The suggested way is along the Greenway just north of Tyler’s Farm, turn right when you get to the A41 and go to the far (southern) side of the bridge over the M1. There are no stiles or gates on that route.
