Midsummer Walk: Finch Lane and local paths.

Meeting point: The end of Finch Lane by the allotments. The postcode is WD23 3AL.

Sunday 7th July 2019 – 10.45am for a prompt 11.00am start.  4.5 miles.

Bushey Festival Circular Walk.

Meeting point: The Café in King George Recreation Ground.  There is a car park at the entrance off King George Avenue.  The postcode is WD23 4NT.

Bring a picnic.

A circular walk taking in the Millennium Cairn and the Jubilee Bridge in Merry Hill Wood and the sink hole in Attenborough Fields.

Hyde Park to Little Venice.

Meeting point: At the entrance to Stanmore Underground Station where we will take the tube. The postcode is HA7 4PD.

Bring a picnic and Oyster/travel card/contactless debit card for the underground.

A linear walk from Hyde Park via the Serpentine, Sunken Garden, Leinster Façade, Paddington Station, St Mary’s Hospital.

Colne Valley - Part 10: A Circular Walk from South Harefield to West Harefield and back.

Meeting point: Close to Widewater Place Business Park on Moorhall Road, South Harefield.  The postcode UB9 6NS is nearby.

The tenth circular walk exploring the Colne Valley. Through South Harefield, past St. Mary’s church to Coppermill at West Harefield, then back to South Harefield via Pynesfield Lake, Troy Cut and the canal footpath.

Hertfordshire Way Part 6: Essendon to Hertford.

Meeting point: The Rutts car park, High Road, Bushey Heath – free on Sundays at time of going to print.  The postcode is WD23 1ND.

We have a minibus – travel cost £7 per person. Please contact David Bearfield to reserve a place.

A linear walk along the Hertfordshire Way.  From Essendon we continue east to Little Berkhamsted and Bayford, before going north to the County town of Hertford.

 

Sunday 17th November 2019 – 10.40am.  4 miles.

Ver Valley Walk 7: The Watermeadow Walk.

Meeting point: Bushey Station to catch the 10.57am train to St Albans Abbey.  Please note: The car parks at the station are not free. The postcode is WD19 4ST.

Alternative meeting points:  Watford Junction Station platform 11 – for the 11:20 train to St Albans Abbey, or St Albans Abbey station at 11:35.

This is a linear walk starting with a short circuit of St Albans then along the river Ver through Sopwell Nunnery Green space and the watermeadows to Park Street.  We will get the Abbey Flyer train back to Watford.

A circular walk exploring Elstree aerodrome, Letchmore Heath and Patchetts Green.

 

Wednesday 1st January 2020 – 11.00am.  3 miles.

Two Parks in Bushey.

Meeting point: The Moatfield car park.  The postcode is WD23 3JU.

Bring a snack if you wish.  Mince pies will be served at the end of the walk.

A circular walk taking in both The Moatfield and King George Recreation parks.

Complimentary mince pies and complementary mulled wine will be served.

South Oxhey Circular Walk.

Meeting point: Oxhey Woods car park, The Woods, South Oxhey.  The postcode is HA6 3EX.

Bring a snack if you wish.  Mince pies will be served at the end of the walk.

A circular walk around South Oxhey. Optional extension along the sculpture trail in Oxhey Woods after the mince pies.

The Jubilee Walkway: The Eastern Loop.
Meeting point: At the entrance to Stanmore Underground Station where we will take the tube. The postcode is HA7 4PD.

A circular walk from London Bridge in the eastern part of central London following the River Thames on the South Bank, crossing Tower Bridge and passing through the heart of the City of London, then back via the Millennium Bridge. We will return via the tube to Stanmore.


Sunday 10 February 2019 – 1.00pm. 2 miles.
Hilfield Park Reservoir with the Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust.
Meeting point: Hilfield Park Reservoir, Hilfield Lane. The postcode is WD25 8DA. The entrance is a little difficult to see so look out for the HMWT and BADFA banners to aid you.
Leader: Josh Kalms (HMWT) and Yvonne Riley.
A great opportunity to have a guided circular tour of this private and usually locked nature reserve managed by HMWT on behalf of Affinity Water. There should be a good selection of wildlife on the reservoir.

A circular walk from Bushey Heath through Hill Mead Nature Park, across Merry Hill Woodland to Grim’s Dyke and Harrow Weald Common, then returning to Bushey Heath via Bentley Priory Open Space.

Colne Valley - Part 9: A Circular Walk from Rickmansworth to West Harefield and back.
Meeting point: Car park at Rickmansworth Aquadrome in Frogmore Lane where parking charges may apply. The postcode WD3 1NB is nearby.

The ninth circular walk exploring the Colne Valley. Around Stocker’s Lake and Springwell Lake, then following the canal towpath to West Harefield before returning to the Aquadrome via the east side of the canal.

Heartwood Forest Flowers.
Meeting point: Heartwood Forest car park just beyond Sandridge. The postcode AL4 9DQ is nearby.

This circular walk will meander through ancient woodland and some new woodland planted in the last 10 years under the management of the Woodland Trust. We should discover several flowers of the forest, including bluebells.
