Sunday 10th December 2000 10.30 am
Bentley Priory Nature Reserve and Bentley Old Vicarage

6 Miles  Cancelled due to weather

12th November 2000
Hilfield Reservoir Circular Walk

Billed as about 3 ½ miles, measured afterwards as 4.06 miles.
Amazingly good weather and not too bad underfoot considering all the rain and floods we've had recently. Picnic was on a pile of fence posts as it might have been too boggy getting to the viewing platform. Fourteen people came.

Above: picnic in the rubble.  Below: beside the lake.

Sunday 8th October 2000

Chess Valley

Started Scots Hill (Grid Ref. TQ 064 952)
Was 6.13 miles.
Weather forecast cold and wet, but still eight turned up.
The weather turned near perfect, lovely sunshine and quite warm.
We democratically decided to picnic in a field just short of Sarratt.
Lovely clear river, Monica, as usual, laden with mushrooms.

Paris saving the world during the Edgewarebury Walk

The day was fine, we had permission to park at Penniwells Farm. A bit of traffic-free Edgewarebury Lane, then green lane then field (tantalisingly close to the aim of getting across the M1 at Scratchwood Service area. Then south through urban alleyways, cutting under the railway and the M1. Up to Scratchwood for a picnic in a sunny clearing. Then round the wood discovering where the recycling plant by the M1 was (it still doesn't seem to have any road going to it), climb down to the top of the railway tunnel on the Bed-Pan line and back to Penniwells.

Thursday 11th May 2000 7.30pm,
Berrygrove Bluebell Walk

About 3 Miles

Bluebells at Berrygrove
We enjoyed the spring spectacle of bluebells.

The police gave us permission to pass their temporary barriers.

Sunday 9th April 2000
Elstree and Tykeswater

Leaping over the stream
BADFA member leaps stream

This Elstree walk saw members leaping the stream because their way was blocked on poorly maintained Tykeswater Lane.
Several BADFA members, not feeling able to leap, crossed on foot. Most got wet, including some with wellies.
We picnicked in the sun and partly dried out, sang Happy Birthday to You to our '50 today' walk leader and explored our way back.
