Wall Hall to Bricket Wood
No rain! But flooding meant a change of route. 13 people
saw the forgotten amphitheatre in the woods (but we never found the Napoleonic cottages). We then tried a lane we had never walked before: up to Blackbirds Farm. Only one muddy patch and Chris proved it could be done without getting socks wet. On to picnic at Aldenham village and back to the cars along the new(ish) bridleway.
Webmaster's note: it was gratifying to learn that John and Irene Page wouldn't have been able to come if they hadn't looked up location and time at the last minute on our web pages.

Monday 1st January 2001 12 noon
Moat Field to Letchmore Heath
4.5 Miles. 30 people came. Arguably the proper Millennium Day so we started off with a firework. The weather held though the previous day's rain had thawed the ground and the RUPP beyond the bypass was horrendous (Lord Aldenham's land). The slope down to the Hilfield Brook was difficult and two of our number decided not to do it and went a long way round. Apart from that it was a grand walk, apparently enjoyed by all and the hot mulled wine and hot mince pies brought by Hazel to the Letchmore Heath picnic stop were much appreciated.
